KAUMF Seminary Scholarship Makes a Difference

Meet Julie Freeman

What inspired you to go into ministry?
I’ve always felt called to ministry in some way but grew up in churches where women could not lead. After I joined the UMC as an adult and experienced my first female pastor, I began to realize that it is possible for me to become a pastor.
What impact has receiving the KAUMF Seminary Scholarship made?
Receiving the KAUMF scholarship has helped me take more hours per semester so I can graduate in three years instead of four.
What has been the most memorable experience of seminary?
For me, the most memorable part of seminary is our community meals. We eat lunch and dinner together with our professors and staff giving us a chance to get to know each other and share our lives beyond the classroom. I’ve made friendships and connections that will last a lifetime.

How has your seminary education helped you in your ministry?
My seminary education has been invaluable to me as I have served in local church ministry. Besides gaining theological knowledge, I’ve grown more confident in my gifts.
The Foundation is honored to support clergy through the KAUMF Seminary Scholarship and grateful for the families and churches who have made the scholarship possible. If you are interested in more information on investing in the next generation of clergy through the KAUMF scholarship, please contact us at foundation@kaumf.org.
