Investment Forum with Wespath

On Tuesday, February 9, Wespath Institutional Investments will present “2021 Near and Long-term Risk and Opportunities Affecting the Markets” at the Investment Forum hosted by the Kansas Area United Methodist Foundation. Churches and organizations who invest with the Foundation, those interested in investing with the Foundation or are interested in learning more about long-term sustainable investments are invited to join. The forum will be held from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. on Zoom. 

During the forum, Wespath’s Dave Zellner, Chief Investment Officer, Trish Halper, Deputy Chief Investment Officer, and Karen Manczko, Director of Institutional Relationships will be sharing how the Foundation’s funds performed in 2020, the targets for 2021, and Wespath’s long-term investment strategy.

Clergy Tax Seminar - February Learn & Grow Seminar

Monday, February 15

Offered in partnership with Discipleship Ministries.

Clergy face some unique challenges when it comes to things like Social Security payments, estimated tax payments, housing allowances or exclusions, and reimbursed expenses. There are questions you may have about implications of the pandemic on your 2020 tax situation. Your corner tax preparer may not understand the unique situation of clergy and finding a preparer who does can save you substantially in money and aggravation. Join us as the Rev. Don Joiner, a certified financial planner, helps us navigate the preparation of taxes and planning for a sound financial future.

Clergy Financial Wellness Initiative

The Foundation is excited to launch the Clergy Financial Wellness Initiative. The 8-month program is designed to deep and holistic financial training for clergy. This program will be limited to 20 appointed United Methodist clergy in Kansas to provide greater depth and establish meaningful, long-lasting connections.

There is no financial cost to participants. Upon successful completion of the 8-month program, participants will earn 2.0 CEU’s.

Applications will be accepted until February 19.

January Investment Summary

The Foundation’s investments were mixed in January 2021 with greater volatility late in the month. Remember that markets go up and down in the short-term, so having the longer-term perspective is vital. Please find more information regarding our investment at www.kaumf.org/investments.

Foundation Operations Update

Although our staff are continuing to work remotely, a staff member will be available via phone from 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., Monday - Friday. The staff will continue to be available via email from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and the office remains closed to visitors.

Certificate of Participation Interest Rates

12 Month term - 0.50%
24 Month term - 0.75%

(Rate effective as of December 1, 2020. Rates subject to change. Interest Rates for the Certificate of Participation Investment are reviewed on a monthly basis and as needed.)

Certificates of Participation are offered to churches, organizations, and individuals throughout Kansas and Nebraska to help support the Church and Ministry Loan Fund. Church and Ministry Loans are available to churches and ministries throughout the Great Plains Conference.
