Grants Available for New Ministries, Programs, and Trainings

For the third year, the Foundation is offering one-time matching grants to advance ministries across our state, especially in ways that are creative, innovative, and new.

Through the Pathways for Discipleship Funds, matching grants (up to $1,000) are being awarded to support three key areas of ministry: Children and Youth Programs, Ministry and Outreach, and Leadership Education. Click here for more information. Grant applications are due by September 1, 2021.

Grants at Work Across the State

We are grateful to partner with churches and ministries across the state through the work God is doing in the community. Thank you for allowing the Foundation to provide a grant for the projects and ministry. 

Thank you to Wichita New Covenant UMC for partnering on their Grocery Relief program. The program provides a quality food box for families once a month that includes staples, ingredients to make two provided recipes, fresh produce, and hygiene items.


Thank you Worden Cornerstone Church in Baldwin City for allowing the Foundation to partner with the Sunday livestream ministry through providing a grant. The church purchased a camera and upgraded their wifi to livestream the Sunday worship service. 


Thank you Hillsboro UMC for partnering with the Youth Snack program. During the summer of 2020, an average of 115 youth received snack packs on a weekly basis, for a total of over 12,000 snack packs.


Thank you Corbin UMC for partnering for a youth event. As a result of the evening, sponsors are looking into planning quarterly events for area youth.

Thank you Overland Park Indian Heights UMC for partnering on the new play area for Kingdom Kids. With the new play equipment, the church is reaching families with young kids who live in the community. 

Additional Grant Partnerships

McPherson First UMC - partnership allowed the youth group space to turn into a live-stream venue to host youth group during COVID and allow teens to attend youth group virtually.  

Beloit First UMC - Missional outreach projects such as a laundry care outreach to provide detergent, coins for washing and drying, and a devotional booklet at a local laundrymat. In addition, the church provided Monday Friendship Meals to the community and has plans for a community garden. 

Fairway Old Mission UMC - help support the Teen Summit on Race and Privilege.

Loans and Building Projects Seminar

Is your church or organization considering a building project or loan? Are you familiar with the process outlined by the Book of Discipline?

On Tuesday, July 13 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., the Kansas Area United Methodist Foundation invites you to join the “Building Projects and Loans” seminar. David McCaskill, Senior Vice President of Financial Services and Treasurer for Wesleyan Investive (formerly the United Methodist Development Fund) will be presenting.

David brings 43 years of banking experience to Wesleyan Investive, with 22 of those years supporting churches in the loan closing process. He currently oversees the management of more than $403 million in loans.

Seminary Scholarship Application Due July 15

The Kansas Area United Methodist Foundation is honored to distribute seminary scholarships. The scholarship applications for the 2021-2022 academic year are now available. Click here for full scholarship guidelines and to apply.


Kansas Area United Methodist Foundation Seminary Scholarship
Deadline: July 15, 2021
The Seminary Scholarship Fund of the Kansas Area United Methodist Foundation provides scholarships for ministerial students who are attending a theological school and working toward ordination in the Great Plains Conference of the United Methodist Church. This Fund originated with the Kansas West Conference, seeking to create a large endowment to support seminary students.

Pass the Torch Scholarship
Deadline: July 15, 2021
The Pass the Torch Scholarship Fund is a ministry of retired clergy, spouses, and surviving spouses of the Great Plains Conference committed to significantly increasing the amount of funds to educate quality seminary students to lead our church.

Certificate of Participation Rates Increased in July

Do you want your investments to make a difference in churches and organizations across our connection? Consider a Certificate of Participation!

A CP is the funding source for the Church Development Loan Ministry. Through the loan fund, churches and organizations in the Great Plains Conference can expand their ministry. CP's are available to individuals and churches/organizations in the Great Plains Conference. Learn more at www.kaumf.org/cp.

24 Month term - 1.00%
